The Fall of Mankind

"No please! We mean you no ha..." A armored soldier was interrupted as a pair of claws ripped him clean in two.
He screamed in pain for a moment before his severed parts were dropped to the dirt. Blood poured from the body as the creature wipped his claws off on the pile of human bodies that had accumilated.
A group of armored guards appeared from the alleys around the town, their swords drawn to combat the threat. One of them stared at the amount of bodies for a second but did not back down as they charged toward the figure.
Atrum took to the skies, he had done enough killing but had not found out what he wanted to know. None of the humans he questioned knew anything about his companions or family. Without emotion he had killed them all.
In his eyes, all humans deserved death for what they had done to his race.I will return to this place once I rest and then no human will be left.

Onyx and Moriko galloped at top speed underneath where Atrum was flying. They were both centaurs.
Onyx was named Onyx because of the black fur of his horse body, his human body was that of a muscled black man, his shoulder-length hair was jet black and his eyes were brown. He had black gauntlets on made of dragonhide. He held a steel spear in his right hand.
Moriko's name meant Forest Child in Japanese. Her horse body was chestnut brown and her hair and tail were dark brown, her hair reached the middle of her human back. Her human body was that of an elegant white woman, almost elven in appearance. Her eyes were a gentle blue and she wore a broad piece dragonhide around her chest with a strap over her right shoulder, securing the dragonhide. She carried a silver spear in her right hand.

Flying through the air with black, batlike wings, was Vaan. He was quite unique in the effect that he was a half demon who actually valued the planet he lived on, and the races that populated it. For the past three hundred years, Vaan had dedicated his life to protecting these people from anything that was thrown at him. He had even killed his own kind. The weapon on his back was one of legend, and one he would never let fall into the wrong hands. It was whatever the user wanted it to be, as long as the request was an intended weapon. Vaan's favourite was the steel flail. It was like a whip, but made of sharp metal disks with razor edges surrounded in infernal flame. Whenever he chose to use this, he wrapped it around his arm, letting it cut into his flesh and burn. This way, he could always experience that which he caused, as long as it wasn't death. That was something he had never been able to grant himself. He peered downwards, scouting for the report he had recieved that another half demon by the name of Atrum, had been murdering innocent people. "That name... sounds so familiar..." he thought.

Atrum speed up quite quickly, his wings flapping elegantly. He kept touching his Deathbringer, an ancient sctyhe forged with the bones of his dead comrades. Gliding toward his castle, he slwoed down as he landed on the top, his wings cloaking his entire body.
His yellow eyes gazed over at the sunset, it was almost time for his rest.
He suddenly drew his scythe and took a large side swing at the air almost as if to feel the strength he had. He chuckled, sliding it onto his back once more.
"I will rest for now."

"I wouldn't if I were you."
Vaan lowered behind him, flapping his wings one last time before drawing his weapon and turning it into a set of pure silver daggers. "I got a tip that you were out here causing chaos. Killing people. Not a good idea." Vaan's spiked tail whipped from side to side.

Atrum immediately lifted off his area, his wings flapping to keep him in the air. He did not draw his scythe, this creature was not his enemy only humans were.
"I will not fight you, demon." He said, his voice as calm as it could be.

"You don't have a choice!" Vaan screamed, taking flight and lunching at Atrum. He moulded his weapons into a boomerang and threw it at Atrum.

A steel spear flew through the air at Atrum. Onyx came into view.
"You have been killing the people!" he roared in a sophisticated form of the common tongue, in his thick centaur accent.
Moriko then came into view.
"Why must you kill them?? When it was probably only a few that did whatever they did to you!!" She yelled, in the same type of common as Onyx with the same thick accent, although Moriko's was more musical.

Atrum was struck by the boomerang but dodged the spear, the balde cutting his wing quite deeply. Barely catching the ledge of the castle, he climbed up and leapt into the air once more. Taking flight once more, his eyes scanned his foes.
"Humans killed my companions, my family. That is the reason."

Vaan caught the boomerang which promptly became a whip, signature to a vampire hunter. He swung it, letting the end wrap around Atrum's foot and pulling him down to the ground. "No more. It stops now."

Atrum fell to the ground, his claw slicing at the chain but to no effect. He gazed at his enemy, his yellow eyes filled with anger. He could not even draw his scythe.
"Very well, you have my attention." He said, his voice cold but calm.

Vaan wound his flail off of Atrum. "You kill innocent people. Why?" he asked. "It is not as if the entire race is at fault for whatever happened to you. There are people who deserve to die, but not everyone does..."

Atrum leapt up and spread his wings, he did not care if this demon made sense or not. The slaughter of the innocent was the only way to avenge his people and to him that's all that mattered. He flew off the castle and headed back to the town. He sped up quite quickly, knowing too well that he would be followed. However, it did not mattter as long as he got to the town before them.
"I will kill all humans!" He screamed.

Vaan flew after him in hot pursuit, but rather than trying to take Atrum down, he passed him. He was going to warn the villagers to hide, and to protect their children. Killing a grown man was one thing, but an innocent child, having not yet opened his or her eyes to the evils of our world...

Onyx and Moriko followed on the ground. Onyx picked up a crossbow and started shooting at Atrum, while Moriko waited for the perfect opportunity to throw her spear.

Atrum dodged most of the arrows, a few pieced his legs and arms but he was only concentrated on the village. Finally reaching the outskirts, he noticed no guards and no others. He growled in irritation.
"Damn it..."

Moriko saw her chance and threw the spear at Atrum. Onyx continued the volley of arrows.
"If he hurts the innocent children, I will kill him!" Moriko growled in uncharacteristic anger.

The spear made contact, wripping into his left leg. He shieked in pain by this sudden attack. He tore the spear from muscle in his leg, blood oozing from the open wound.
He immediately took to the air, trying to find a place that help healing supplies. He could not defend himself with this painful wound.

Vaan, waiting in a tree, came out when he saw Atrum on the outskirts. "You're too late..." he said. "You know i'll always be one step ahead of you, since I'm doing the right thing and you aren't. I don't have to fight you to win."

"Killing innocents only worsens your rage, but I see that you will not give up anyway" Onyx said to Atrum, his crossbow raised.
Moriko unarmed, but that didn't faze her, she could always use magic.

He growled, landing close to his enemies. He had one thing he could do but it was quite risky.
"I shall fight to the death!" He roared, opening his palms as two black fireballs appeared in each one. He knew this would leave him defenseless but he had no other choice. He launched one at Vaan then twisted around rocketing the other at Onyx and Moriko.

Onyx pulled Moriko out the way of the black fireball, then snarled as the fireball hit him in the side of horse body, sending him sprawling to the floor. While he recovered, Moriko stood protectively in front of Onyx and glared at Atrum. She raised her left hand and sent a white fireball at the demon.

Atrum blocked the white fireball with his hands, it burned his skin for the few seconds he held it until launching it into the air.
"Do not underestimate the power of a half-fiend." Atrum said, his teeth grinding against one another.

"Do not underestimate the power of centaurs" Onyx retorted, pushing himself to his feet and taking his place by Moriko's side again.
Moriko sent another fireball at Atrum, then another.

Atrum dodged one and was taken back by the other. He crashed to the ground, his chest smoldering from the attack. He struggled to get up, his legs shaking from the pain.
"I will not die..."
